Neuro-affirming occupational therapy for children and families

We partner with children and families to build the skills, confidence, and strategies needed for success in everyday life. Through individualized, neuro-affirming occupational therapy and collaborative parent consultation, we help children participate more fully at home, at school, and in their communities.

Why Work With Me

Every child deserves to be understood, respected, and supported

As a licensed Occupational Therapist with over 15 years of pediatric experience, I believe every child deserves to be supported for who they are. My practice is grounded in a neuro-affirming approach that recognizes differences rather than deficits. Together, we identify each child's strengths, understand their nervous system, and develop practical strategies that support participation in the activities that matter most. Therapy is collaborative, individualized, and focused on meaningful progress — not changing who a child is, but helping them thrive as their authentic self. ❤️ Rachel Yakar

Testimonials

Overloaded, busy career, and on the sensitive side... that's me, mama. And, paired with a wonderfully loud, constantly moving, highly independent child full of big feelings, that's my kid. My partner and I read books and blogs, guessing and checking what would help with big feelings and challenging behaviors, and we were still pulling out our hair. Since we weren't experts, we needed to find someone to help us.
Rachel was that right expert. She's highly qualified, capable, and brings a contagious joy to every conversation. She goes the extra mile and is extremely resourceful. From working with her, we have better tools for managing big emotions and challenging behaviors, which has created a more peaceful and fun home. Rachel is the absolute best—a literal parenting angel walking on this earth—and we're a better family for it!

Rachel is AMAZING!!! She has worked with my daughter on and off for the last two years as she's struggled with consecutive injuries and a hypersensitive nervous system as a result of them. We've had many helpers along the way, Including doctors and physical therapists, but Rachel is the one person we always come back to.
She's kind, knowledgeable and knows when and how to push my daughter. I love that she not only helps my daughter physically, but also emotionally.

Hi! My name is Alicia and I am an early childhood educator who is taking time to raise my little one while helping with you with all scheduling and invoicing questions. I have a degree in early childhood education with an emphasis on young children and families. I am so excited to continue my work with Rachel and bring an additional option for families to learn and connect with their children to the community. You can find me and my little one engaging with community activities or anywhere that we can have our toes in the water or out in the snow!

Owner, Summit Therapy Solutions
I am a licensed occupational therapist and yoga teacher, specializing in Pediatrics and the Safe and Sound Program. I use evidence-based occupational therapy tools to help clients reach developmental milestones, prevent illness, regulate nervous systems, and engage in activities that improve health and wellness.
When not practicing occupational therapy, I enjoy the Tahoe lifestyle with my husband and two boys, which includes outdoor activities, knitting, or baking sourdough from a 1990's starter at high altitude.
